Denise: “We’ve decided to review these two BodyWand vibes together because they are so much alike, design wise that is. Both are wand-type massagers, but one is teeny tiny and the other is giant.”
Ken: “When we picked up the massagers from Dr Dick, Denise and I had to chuckle because the BodyWand Plug-in is three times the size of the BodyWand Mini. I said that the BodyWand Mini looked like a Barbie Doll accessory.”
Denise: “And I said the BodyWand Mini reminded me of the joke about the lesbian who had to kick start her vibrator.”
Ken: “Denise and I both really like a wand-type massager because of their versatility. All share a similar design; a rounded head, attached to a stalk-like neck that is attached to the body of the massager. Some are cordless (rechargeable), some plug-in and some run on batteries. The two vibes we have today are examples of the plug-in variety and the battery operated variety. BodyWand also makes a rechargeable model, which was reviewed here last month. See that review HERE!”
Denise: “Both of these massagers have dial-type controls; the controller on the BodyWand Mini is in its base and the controller on the BodyWand Plug-in is, obviously, on its body. A dial control allows for more variation in the speed and intensity of the vibration and, to my mind, it beats a simple on/off or a high/low speed switch.”
Ken: “The BodyWand Plug-in is akin to the granddaddy of wand-type massagers, the Hitachi Magic Wand. It’s just over a foot long, runs on electricity, plugs into an A/C outlet in your wall and is the most powerful type of massager there is. It delivers consistent vibration and you’ll never have to worry about replacing batteries or recharging it. Of course it also means you are tethered to the wall by a cord, but this one has a nice long cord, about four feet long. The body of the BodyWand Plug-in features a easy-grip textured surface, which makes it easy to hold even with lubed fingers.”
Denise: “The BodyWand Mini, on the other hand, is only 4” long, features some decorative rhinestones on the base and is powered by 6 LR 44 watch batteries. Just between you and me; I hate fiddling around with those tiny watch batteries, but I’m happy to report that the BodyWand Mini come with the batteries already installed. You just have to remember to remove the clear plastic dot that covers the batteries before you use it for the first time. And the battery compartment is easy to open. The motor produces an intense buzz-type vibration on the highest setting. This is very different from the deep rumbling vibration you get with the BodyWand Plug-in.”
Ken: “The BodyWand Mini is adorable, but packs a punch. The BodyWand Plug-in is a workhorse and will never let you down. Both are amazingly quiet.”
Denise: “I’ve taken to slipping the BodyWand Mini into my purse for those emergency jilling-off sessions. I’ve used it in the bathroom at work and during my commute to and from work. You’d be surprised how tolerable a traffic jam can be when you’re distracted with a mini vibe like this.”
Ken: “I dig the BodyWand Plug-in. At first I started using it on my sore shoulders after a long hot shower. I’ve been doing some intense workouts at the gym lately. So there I was lying on our bed with just a towel around my waste. Before long the vibration on my shoulders traveled down my spine and, like magic, I started to get a woodie. I absentmindedly moved the vibe to between my legs and just under my nuts. The sensations were unbelievable. In no time at all I was beating my meat like it owed me money. I shot a wad on my freshly showered chest and I discover that my shoulders didn’t ache as much as before. It’s miraculous.”
Denise: “We probably should mention the nice, minimal packaging. The two vibes come in identical folded cardboard cartons, save the size and color. The massager is nestled in a plastic shell inside the carton.”
Ken: “We’re both completely sold on both these products. I was almost going to call them toys, but they are both way more then just toys.”

I have a marvelous mid-sized wand type massager to tell you about today. Allow me to present the Bodywand Rechargeable Massager. This thing is extraordinary. It’s only about 8 inches long from tip to toe. And it’s cordless! That in itself floats my boat. Listen, I’ve tried battery operated vibes and vibes that plug directly into an AC outlet in the wall. Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats cordless. That being said, I also know that sometimes one has to sacrifice power for mobility. However that is not the case with the Bodywand Rechargeable Massager.

I thought for certain that a diminutive vibe like this wouldn’t be able to deliver the level of vibration a full-sized plug-in vibe like my trusty Hitachi does, but I was oh so wrong. This handy, ergonomically shaped puppy knocks my socks off. It is the sweetest, strongest vibrator, per inch, I have ever used.

Bodywand Rechargeable Massager features a wheel/dial type controller. It is easily manipulated with one finger. You turn it on and off and you dial it up or dial it down, with one motion. And it goes from mild to “OMG, I can barely stand it in” nothing flat. A15-minute charge provides you 30 minutes of bliss. It can also be operated while it is plugged in, so there’s that.

The Bodywand Rechargeable Massager recharges using an AC adaptor that plugs into a port in the handle of the unit. There is a little rubber plug that covers the recharge port to keep the port clean and dry. Here’s a tip; don’t lose the little rubber plug. In my haste to charge the Bodywand Rechargeable Massageronce I got it home, I carelessly set aside the plug not remembering where I put it. It wasn’t until the unit was completely recharged that I had to go search for the plug. Luckily I didn’t discard it with the packaging.

Speaking of the packaging, it’s pretty minimal. A plastic clamshell insert slips in an attractively designed folded cardboard sheath. The package contains the vibe, AC adapter and a velvet drawstring pouch for storage. The Bodywand Rechargeable Massager comes in two colors, green and lavender. I have the green one.

One thing to note, when the Bodywand Rechargeable Massager is operating at high speed there is a good deal of vibration in the handle of the unit. I suppose this is unavoidable seeing its diminutive size. It’s also not particularly quiet, although the promotional materials on the box claim that it is.

The Bodywand website claims that this vibe “can be fitted with an range of attachments to create a palette of sensual delights.” I’m all about attachments for wand type massagers, but neither Dr Dick or I could find any attachments for sale on their website. This was a big disappointment. But, ya know what? I got over it with a little playtime with my new buddy, the Bodywand Rechargeable Massager.

I’m partial to using some lube, even when I’m stimulating myself externally. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information on the package about what the domed head of the massager is made of. I was pretty sure it’s not silicone, so I used a silicone-based lube with it and there were no ill effects. I mention this because silicone-based lube will degrade a fine silicone toy. (Note to manufacturer: it’s always a good idea to include information on the materials used in producing a toy. This helps the consumer make an educated decision on if it is right for her/him and what kind of lube can be used with it.)

The Bodywand Rechargeable Massager is not waterproof. However, it’s easy to clean. For general cleaning you can wipe it down with a lint-free towel moistened with mild soap and warm water. To sanitize use a peroxide, rubbing alcohol or a 10% bleach solution.

When you are not using the Bodywand Rechargeable Massager on your lady parts it works marvels on sore muscles anywhere else on your body. And remember, it’s cordless so you’re never tethered to an outlet. Like I said at the outset, rechargeable is perfect for my partner, Joy, and I, because we travel so much.

This is a unisex toy. Boys as well as girls will really have a ball with this. Get one today!

I have a fantastic toy to tell you about. Allow me to introduce you to the Acuvibe Cordless. This is workhorse wand type vibe that will knock your socks off with pleasure. Simply put, for those of us gals who need a lot of direct stimulation to get off, only a wand type vibe will do. For years and years I relied on my trusty Hitachi Magic Wand. And despite having loads of opportunities to test drive many other new-fangled vibes, nothing even came close to the sure-fire performance of the Hitachi.

But now, I am tether-free, and oh what a difference it makes. I get the same powerful vibrations I used to enjoy with my trusty old Hitachi, only now I can pleasure myself when and where I like. That’s because the Acuvibe is cordless. No more fumbling around adjusting a power cord or finding I was at the end of my tether, just as my big O was cumin ‘round the corner.

And get this, the Acuvibe can run on DC power, while plugged in, or, when charged, it can go cordless. Basically, you get the best of both worlds. You’ll never, ever need batteries!

This Acuvibe is about as stylish and sleek as a wand-type vibe can get. It’s jet-black, or ebony, if you will. It has a slip-resistant coating on the handle shaft and up near the power button. This is an exceptionally resourceful design element. Because when I’m holding on to my Acuvibe, and it is a bulky handful; I don’t want it to slip out of my hands while it’s working its magic. This is especially true if my fingers are wet with lube or my own wetness.

And the Acuvibe is versatile. It is brilliant on a stiff neck or sore back. It works wonders on my feet too. My husband asked me to tell you that men will also enjoy the Acuvibe.

The Acuvibe can run for 45 minutes on a single charge. And while it is charging there’s a blue light in the base that lights up. There’s just the single power switch that turns the unit on and also changes from a high-level speed of 5700 vibrations per a minute, to a low-level speed of 4300 vibrations per a minute.

Clean up is relatively easy. Just be very careful not to get water (or lube) in the recharge port. That being said, you can wipe it down with a lint-free towel and mild soap and warm water. Or try a lint-free towel moistened with peroxide, rubbing alcohol or a 10% bleach solution.

I hope I can find attachments for my Acuvibe. The attachment that I’ve been using with my trusty Hitachi doesn’t fit on the Acuvibe, because the Acuvibe has a smaller head then the Hitachi. Actually, we wound up using a rubber sheet that we sometimes use for our kink play under a regular cotton sheet. We didn’t what to lay down directly on the rubber.”
Kevin: “You will be mixing the Nuru Gel with some warm water to reach the desired consistency. The whole event is gonna get a little messy, and I mean that in the best possible way. So have a few couple towels within easy reach. We also rolled up a towel placed across the top of our mattress where the one receiving the massage could lay his head.”
Gina: “Once we left the bath we dried off a bit and then Kevin laid face-down on our mattress. I poured the Nuru Gel/water solution, one handful at a time, over the back of his body. I then applied a couple of handfuls of the solution over the front of my body and laid down on top of him. Nuru Gel is so slick we had a ball rubbing all over each other. This is the Layaspot by Fun Factory. It’s a sweet looking little vibe perfect for clit stimulation. It has a kick-ass ergonomic shape that straddles my mons for some hands-free pleasuring. The business end of the vibe is in the wider end, but I can feel the vibration throughout the whole vibe. This wider, flatter end fits up against my clit nicely and delivers a great full genital massage. And I don’t even have to move it around.

There are two buttons on the spine of the vibe; one marked + and one marked —. These regulate the eight levels of vibration and three pulsation modes. I found operating these little buttons a problem. Turning it on and off isn’t particularly difficult, but it takes a lot of finger strength to keep the buttons depressed long enough to switch the vibrations modes. I didn’t like that.

The unit is only 4” long, made of a hard plastic with a softer skid-resistant coating. The package says it is phthalates free, hypoallergenic and latex free. The Layaspot is powered by a couple of AAA –batteries. But getting into the battery compartment is if bitch. Who designed this, some he-man? I wound up having to use my mother’s jar opener to open the Layaspot. Closing it properly is also a challenge. I thought I had it right till the plastic battery compartment top popped off during use. D’oh! Ok, so that was my fault.

The Layaspot is not waterproof; they say it’s splash proof. What exactly does splash proof really mean anyhow? It tells me the manufacturer couldn’t bother to make a watertight seal on the toy, that’s what it says to me. I figure a toy is either waterproof or it’s not. Splash proof shouldn’t be a selling point, IMHO. Listen, maybe this isn’t a big thing for others, but it is for me. Not just in terms of use, but also in terms of cleaning. A vibe that costs near $60 should, I think, be waterproof. That is if you ask me.

Like I said, I love the shape of the Layaspot; it’s comfortable in my hand and against my body. I just had a problem with the operation. I’m gonna suggest that the Layaspot would make a nice beginner vibe, particularly for someone who’s not interested in insertion.

My husband and I were babysitting our 5-year-old niece for a few days a couple weeks ago. She’s at that stage when mimicking adult behavior is so much fun. I’ve been an avid practitioner of massage and bodywork for ages. I guess you could say I know my way around a massage table. However finding just the right massage oil or lotion is not nearly as easy as kneading out the knots in someone’s body.

I’ve tried dozens and dozens of different products over the years and while I’m particularly fond of the Vitamin E and Aloe Vera-based massage lotion that I whip up in my own kitchen, I am always on the lookout for an exceptionally fine massage oil as a compliment to the lotion I use.

I am happy to announce that, thanks to my friends at WET, I now have what I’ve been searching for — Inttimo Tranquility Aromatherapy. It is the ideal massage oil to use along side of my special recipe massage lotion. So yay for that!

Inttimo Tranquility is another new product from the masterminds at WET. It’s a very light, pleasantly fragranced massage oil that can also be used as a bath oil. I am so glad to see them branch out from their more familiar line of personal lubricants.

Inttimo Tranquility is long-lasting, but never greasy. It has a nice, but not overpowering scent. This one contains bergamot and ginger; aromas to balance, instill composure and relax the body. But there are three other aromas to choose from. And a little goes a long way. It feels beautifully on my hands and on my client’s skin.

It comes in a nicely shaped plastic bottle. I got the 4oz size for review, but it also comes in an 8oz size. Despite the attractive bottle I wound up transferring the contents to an empty pump bottle I had on hand. The screw top of the original container is not convenient. It’s a bother to have to open and close it with each application, but you’d be foolish not to. The bottle could easily tip and spill and that would make a huge mess. If I had one suggestion to make to the manufacturer it would be consider adding a pump to the packaging.

Again, I loved the consistency of Inttimo Tranquility; not too thin, not so thick, it’s just right. It distributes on the body very evenly and it easily absorbs into the skin. There’s no residue to stain either my massage linens or my client’s clothing.

Inttimo Tranquility contains almond oil, aloe vera juice, vitamin E and A, hemp seed oil, avocado oil, kukul nut oil, and sunflower oil. It’s very good for your skin. It’s great for erotic massage too. But it’s not recommended for use with a condom.

Why not add some spice to your partner play; throw in a little massage; doesn’t even have to be erotic massage. Touching your partner in a non-seductive way can be as loving and rewarding as touching your partner in a seductive manner. Either way; it’s a great way to set the mood or simply say; I love your body.

Karen:  “You’re not gonna believe this, but on our way home from Dr Dick’s, after picking up the Hitachi Magic Wand as our review assignment.  Jack and I started to talk about the first time we’d ever seen a Hitachi.  Neither one of us knew of the others history with the Wand till that moment.  As it turned out, both of us had a similar introduction to this incredible vibe.”

I keep saying; my Hitachi Magic Wand is my all time favorite toy!  I ain’t about to give it up for nobody.  You’ll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. Got it?  OK!

That being said, I have just discovered what I believe is the next best thing to my beloved Magic Wand.  I present you with the Mystic Wand.  It is the petite, cordless, waterproof sibling of the Magic Wand.  And it shakes my word just like its bigger, older sister.  It makes a perfect bath companion or a travel companion.  It even comes with a sweet little storage bag.

It should come as no surprise to any of us that Vibratex is also responsible for introducing the Hitachi Magic Wand to the American market over twenty years ago.  So hurray for that!

Mystic Wand uses of 4-AA batteries (not included in the package).  The battery compartment is easy to open, but battery placement is very difficult to figure out.  Only after I struggled with this puzzle for like 10 minutes, did I notice that there are minuscule images on the compartment that direct the user to the proper battery placement.

Like my trusty Magic Wand, this sweetheart of a vibe delivers amazing external stimulation.  I’m not all that found of insertable vibes, so Mystic Wand is perfect for me.  I love the ridges on its bulbous silicone head.  A little water-based lube to get things started and before you can say; “whoa nelly!’ I’m on my way to big O-town.

The Mystic Wand features six vibe modes, each one more delicious then the previous one.  And here’s something I really like; it has a separate on/off switch.  I hate having to cycle through a whole set of functions just to turn the blasted thing off.  Oh, and it’s surprisingly quiet; another big plus in my book.

The handle or base of the Mystic Wand is soft and silky.  Is that silicone too?  I wonder.  Whatever it is, it is ideal material to use on the handle.  It helps maintain a grip even with lubed fingers.

Silicone is hypoallergenic and non-porous. Clean up is super easy; wash with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth and you’re done. You can wipe it down with a lint-free towel moistened with peroxide, rubbing alcohol or a 10% bleach solution too.

There is absolutely nothing I don’t like about this wonder; it gets my highest rating.  And for the modest retail price you get a very remarkable vibe indeed.

Edible Candle — Watermelon 4 oz. $15.99

Angie:  I couldn’t agree more with the Dr D!  I was thrilled when asked to review these two candles — the Heart-Shaped Massage Body Candle — Naked in the Woods and the Edible Candle — Watermelon.  They are scrumptious.

I have very sensitive skin, so I have to be very careful what products I use.  Initially, I was concerned that fragranced products, like these, would not sit well on my skin.  So I decided to visit the Earthly Body website and do some homework before my first use.  I was delighted to learn that all their products are vegan and nontoxic.

My first use was right after my bath.  I lit a candle, which fragranced the room while I enjoyed my bath.  Naked in the Woods has a light earthy sent with just a hint of pine. the Edible Candle — Watermelon is…well all watermelon-y.  Is there such a word?  Depending on my mood, I had a choice between earthy and fruity.  By the time if finished my bath, there was enough liquefied oil to generously moisturize my legs.  This is a much finer oil than what I usually use, so much more silky.

One thing I did not know is that Hemp Seed Oil is known as ‘nature’s most perfectly balanced oil,’ and has the highest concentration of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) of any essential oil.  I guess that explains the rich texture of the melted candle.

As a special treat, I used the Naked in the Woods candle on my husband.  He probably would have resisted had I asked him first.  Scented things are not his bag. He’s such a guy!   But I had the candle lit at our bedside.  (The scent is not overwhelming in any way.)  We were feeling amorous; and I said I wanted to treat him to a little back rub.  He never says no to a massage.  I extinguished the candle and dribbled the warm oil on his back.  I poured it from about one foot above his back, so that by the time it hit him it was only slightly warmer than his skin.  He moaned with delight as I rubbed it in.

The economy being what it is, I believe more and more of us will be turning to simple, inexpensive pleasures that can be enjoyed at home.  These Earthly Body candles have only whet my appetite to try some of their other products.  (Hubby dear, if you’re reading this, as I know you are, the New Year will be a whole lot more sensual if I find a big gift pack of Earthly Body goodies under the tree.  Hint, hint!)

One final thing, and I know that Dr Dick agrees with me on this, we are both delighted to see that Earthly Body, besides being an earth-friendly, totally GREEN company, it also has a much bigger social conscience.  The founders of the company have created a charitable foundation called The Get Together Foundation. How fantastic is that?
